Cuckooing resulting in arrest |
Cuckooing occurs when criminals, often part of organised crime groups, gain control of a person’s home through force, coercion, or deceit. The home is then used as a base for criminal activity, such as storing, producing, or distributing drugs, managing drug runners, sex work, human trafficking, or storing weapons. The practice is frequently associated with county lines drug networks, where gangs exploit multiple properties to evade police detection and operate discreetly.
Chelsea Safer Neighbourhood Officers attended an address yesterday that had come to notice regarding a resident being vulnerable. The address has been visited many time by officers to check on the resident. On attending the address yesterday, officers found another male who was not permitted in the property. Male was checked and found to be wanted for Immigration Offences and Sexual Offences. Male was taken to custody after resisting arrest. Thank you to residents who keep an eye on their neighbours and report suspicious activity in relation to vulnerable persons and possible Cuckooing.
